NAIS Cluster Welcome Letter

In 2018-2019, the NAIS Graduate Cluster is building capacity and community.  The cluster is an interdisciplinary space for exchange, research and study that seeks to provide support for graduate students working in or adjacent to Native American and Indigenous Studies.  We meet several times per quarter to discuss cluster members’ research and engage with guest speakers.

We are excited to welcome Dr. Christine DeLucia (History, Williams College) as our fall cluster speaker.  She will discuss her recently published book, Memory Lands: King Philip's War and the Place of Violence in the Northeast, and the significance of place-based, collaborative research.  In spring 2019, we will read and discuss Dr. Elizabeth Hoover’s award-winning book, The River is in Us: Fighting Toxics in a Mohawk Community ahead of Dr. Hoover’s lecture on campus.
